Widower’s lonely Christmas note goes viral

It’s that time of year when we flock to family to share food, drink and the inevitable fight with, but one widower has revealed the other side to Christmas in a note that's gone viral around the world.

The Berlin man put up the note at his local supermarket, seeking other like-minded souls to celebrate the festive season with.

“Where would a lonely pensioner and widower find a small company to celebrate Christmas with?” the note read.

With the man going on to reveal he had lived in the town of Zehlendor for 50 years, fellow shopper Lisa spied the knot and posted it on her Facebook for fear his note would go unnoticed.

“When I read this, it broke my heart right away,” Lisa wrote.

“Maybe someone who can fulfill his heart's desire…”

The note quickly struck a chord, with responses coming in thick and fast.

As it turns out, the widower doesn’t just have someone, he has a whole lot of them, after his note went viral on Lisa’s Facebook page with nearly 7000 shares.

Lisa reports the widower was “touched” and “pleased” at the reaction, and will be making a decision where to spend Christmas in the coming weeks.
