Paris Jackson apologises for controversial dingo joke
Paris Jackson has apologised for her controversial dingo joke after she shared a snap of her stroking a dingo with the caption, "a dingo ate my baby."
Taking to Twitter, the 19-year-old daughter of the late Michael Jackson expressed her "sincerest apologies" for the joke that she posted on her Instagram.
"I was referencing a meme," she wrote, in response to a Seven news story. "I had no clue it stemmed from such a tragic and horrific incident. My sincerest apologies, from the bottom of my [heart emoji.]"
The photo of the up-and-coming model stroking a dingo copped a huge backlash for being "offensive" as it made reference to the notorious story of baby Azaria, who was snatched from an Uluru campsite by the native animal in 1980.
The phrase itself, were the chilling screams made Azaria's mum, Lindy Chamberlain-Creighton, when she discovered her daughter was missing.
Paris is currently enjoying a trip to Hamilton Island, where she stopped to visit the local wildlife.
As well as sharing a snap with a dingo, the teen - who has graced the cover of Vogue - also cuddled up to a koala who and was seen affectionately kissing the cute cub on the nose.
The King of Pop's daughter has been on her first trip Down Under as part of the Melbourne Cup celebrations, being flown in especially by retail giant Myer.
Despite her unfortunate choice of words, it seems the the IT girl has been enjoying the Aussie spirit and embraced her inner larrikin.
During the cup celebrations, she was seen posing with a range of silly faces and on an appearance with Hamish & Andy Show, she made a got involved in an on-air challenge where she hilariously pranked her famous friend Taylor Lautner.
