The Crown creator says the Queen is 'of limited intelligence’

He may have based a whole Netflix series on the royal family, but the creator of The Crown has just claimed the Queen is a ‘woman of limited intelligence’.

Screenwriter Peter Morgan told the Sunday Times that he believes the Queen would have preferred to be “looking after dogs and breeding horses” than ruling the Commonwealth.

"Maybe it's because I am an outsider — both my parents were refugees,” he said.

"If you had told me I would be doing this, I would have told you it was mad, hallucinogenic conjecture.

“I wouldn't have guessed there would be anything more to say about this countryside woman of limited intelligence who would have much preferred looking after her dogs and breeding horses to being queen.”

He went on to claim call the royal family a “survival organism, like a mutating virus”.
