‘Shotgun’ wedding? Speculation grows around Meghan and Harry
It’s the royal engagement announcement the world has been waiting for, but many are wondering why Prince Harry and Meghan are in such a rush to tie the knot.
A statement released by Clarence House late last night confirmed the happy news that Prince Harry and Suits actress Meghan Markle are engaged.
“The wedding will take place in Spring 2018. Further details about the wedding day will be announced in due course,” the statement continued.
With the English spring only a matter of months away, some are wondering if there is a reason for the rushed wedding date, with rumours mounting that Meghan could already be pregnant.
The happy pair officially stepped outside Kensington Palace for the first time as an engaged couple, with Meghan flashing her gorgeous engagement ring. But it was her billowing white coat that caught people’s attention.

Of course, it could be a case of extremely wishful thinking, and given that it’s probably freezing over there at the moment it’s no wonder she would want to rug up.
Prince Harry however has made no secret out of the fact that he desperately wants to become a dad.
The 33-year-old even revealed in their first interview together that it could happen sooner than we might expect. “We’ll start a family in the near future,” Harry told BBC’s Mishal Husain.
Back in 2012 he also spoke to the ABC saying that he was “waiting to find the right person” to have children.
“I’ve longed for kids since I was very, very young,” he said at the time.
And by 2016 he was telling People that he sometimes wants kids “right now”.
That same year, just before Meghan and Harry’s relationship officially went public, the actress also revealed that she “can’t wait to start a family”.
Speaking to Best Health Canada she said becoming a mum was on her "bucket list."
Harry and Markle met in London in July of 2016, and their relationship was confirmed that November.
They made their first appearance in Toronto at the annual Invictus Games.
